Welcome to AuntNiNi's Corner!

This site, which originated circa 2000 at now-defunct DomainValet, has been resurrected here at DotEasy. In this HTML/CSS version (index.htm) we are updating the original, simple (now outdated) table format with Cascading-Style-Sheet styling. Click index.html to view our XHTML version using CSS layout positioning.

Not sure what should be done with blue (#6699CC) background that matches Chrysler building sky. Light, neutral backgrounds with black text are easier on the eyes.

Flash, Director, AfterEffects multimedia possibilities are great, but too often access to content is denied if player does not download. Thus, we're trying a mixed bag with HTML4, CSS2, XHTML, JavaScript and ImageReady animated GIFs.

The new horizon of so-called “Web 2” is intriguing so we're sniffing technology like AJAX and PHP/SQL (even though this site is not data- or content-driven). XHTML with CSS styling is safe water, but straight-up XML does not have enough browser support yet to dive in head first.

Our circa 2002 CSS experiment (in which navigation links were JavaScript rollover “text-but” images) can be viewed by clicking js_css/index.html. As we commented then, “the varying lack of browser CSS support is frustrating; CSS falls apart in NN4.” Those wonderful geeks who diligently identify browser quirks and devise remedies are to be applauded. We are eternally grateful to them, but all the work-around “hacks” still required for CSS positioning is burdensome.

The ultimate solution must be player- and browser-independent. We anxiously await SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) — using XML (EXtensible Markup Language) and/or XUL (XML User-interface Language) so vector graphics like Illustrator can be uploaded without a player.

Ahem, excuse us! If you can see this message, your browser is not CSS2 complaint. This site looks better in browsers that support Web standards.
